Infineon Technologies AG (IFX), Germany’s largest chipmaker, is nearing an agreement to acquire a U.S.- based semiconductor company for about $2 billion, according to people familiar with the matter. A deal could be announced as early as today, the people said, asking not to be named because the talks are private. The negotiations could still fall apart, they said. Kay Laudien, a spokesman for Infineon, declined to comment.
